Medallion quilts begin with somewhere near the center of a quilt and are surrounded by multiple borders. If there is a “rule” for how to make a medallion quilt, that’s it. You can begin with a square or rectangle, a pieced block, or a favorite piece of fabric. The quilt is done when it is the size you want or you get tired of going around and around. It’s even easier when done in a liberated style as there is no math involved. Decisions are made as you go.
